With a mission that emphasizes the value of community involvement, ensemble vim is dedicated to providing free arts education for Atlanta’s youth.
As a performing arts collective, we recognize the importance of working with children in order to ensure the future of contemporary classical music. We offer interactive performances to kids in Atlanta, presenting free concerts and workshops to help grow their love of music and introduce them to exciting new sounds. vim wants to show kids that a living composer looks just like they do.
We have worked to make new music accessible to children in Atlanta, and have presented outreach programs at autism and refugee centers in the area. In the ‘22-23 season, we will be presenting an educational program for children in Montgomery, AL in collaboration with ClefWorks, as well as partnering with Atlanta Public Schools to bring a series of interactive programs to students in Title I schools in Atlanta.
“For Georgians who like the visual and performing arts, the news is not good. The Peach State ranks 49th, spending about 11 cents per person for the entire year. Georgia, which dropped one spot from 2017, ranks dead last among all Southern states.”

During the pandemic, we pivoted to creating virtual community engagement opportunities. Our published digital projects include the video series, vimmunity, highlighting important figures from our community, as well as creating the virtual field trip, “unFOUNDed,” in which we paired a program of music written by BIPOC composers with the visual art of a local artist.
